Road Before Me

Road before me, oh what to do
You’ve gone on for miles
Look to be many more
Yet your end is closer than morning dew

You seem to be so undone
Potholes to fill
Edges to smooth
Layers still needing that tarry glue

Traveling makes me weary
Still I don’t want it to end
There’s so much unfinished
Things I’ve yet to begin

So much to get done
Designs and deadlines
Permits and approvals
Things I still need to prove

I know not what to do
All these plans I have for you
The end is coming too soon
Before options have even been reviewed

I wish I had the answers
Finances and resources
Ideas from others
Fellow path travelers

Didn’t know time would go so quick
Was waiting for the fog to dissipate
Now pushing pedal to the metal
Hoping that the road will eventually level

Trying to find all the pieces
A way to get the job done
To make this path what it should be
One heck of a beautiful ride

Road before me
I’m down on bended knees
Asking for a little bit more time
With a little guidance along they away

Bless me with one last chance
And I’ll make this final promise last
I’ll make the most out of my time left
Making this road the grandest conquest
